The Genovese company began its adventure in 1800 in Calabria, founded by Maria Nicola Genovese in Fiumefreddo Bruzio (CS). It began with merchandise and then slowly expanded over the years. The business offered a variety of products, boasting a reputation for being an innovative trader, anticipating customer tastes even before the growing clientele. The business was started by her son Andrea. The business expanded as a means of transportation, sales volumes, and market expansion. Around the mid-1800s, it began to specialize in the production of quality fabrics and silk. Over time, in 1900, the company began operating in Sambiase, opening a shop called “bottega” on Corso Vittorio Emanuele. It sold fabrics, drapes, and yarns, contributing, before anyone else, to the sale of products that were unavailable at the time and in Sambiase, and fostering the development of the local and southern Italian market. It quickly became a benchmark for the industry. Over the years, its customer base began to grow not only in Calabria but also throughout the rest of Italy (Campania, Lazio, Sicily, Lombardy, Piedmont, Tuscany, and Emilia-Romagna).

Vincenzo Genovese’s entry into the business in 1920 brought further innovation.

During the first postwar crisis of 1929, the rise of fascism and the Second World War, the company suffered no economic losses, not only for the Genoese but also for the companies that trusted each other and recognized its reliability and professionalism.

During that period, the company’s role in promoting the development of local craftsmanship increased.

Meanwhile, it was among the first to register with the Catanzaro Chamber of Commerce, with membership number 4231.

After the Second World War, and over the years, the company diversified its Genoese construction business by producing excellent wines, appreciated even outside Sambiase for their quality and flavor.

The business began an inexorable expansion, increasingly offering top-quality products in its stores.

The arrival of Andrea Genovese in the company around 1950 allowed the company to outsource clothing brands that were considered excellent for the time, maintaining and strengthening the company’s distinctive hallmarks of “research, quality, and professionalism.” Marzotto, IMEC, Spider, and others, among the finest Neapolitan tailors, are just a few examples. Over the course of 70 years, the Genovese Lametino company has reaffirmed its position on the market, and not just for its products.

In 1999, the company was taken over by Vincenzo Genovese, the sixth generation of merchants. He oversaw the reorganization of the store, transforming it from a small business into a classic streetwear business. He had the vision of being ahead of the curve, introducing skateboarding, hip-hop, breakdancing, wrestling, and snowboarding, and creating themed events and performances, drawing the jealousy of other merchants. It quickly became a landmark on the southern strip. He introduced the concepts of viral marketing, e-commerce, and the use of the web to spread its quality worldwide. Today, the store thrives by introducing a new streetwear style. It has been reorganized, offering handmade, certified products that reflect its history while also adapting to the current needs of our philosophy and mission.

All of this is supported by the web and new technologies to consistently provide customer service. The new challenge is fascinating, but passion will allow us to achieve our goals.

Today, our development is moving toward the right mix of online and offline, also offering innovative payment systems.
